Inducing Convict to Breed

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I once put a pair of convicts in a shoe box full of water and put it in a closet. An hour later they had 4000 fry swimming around with them.

Thanks everyone. XD Yeah, tried everything. I always have lights on, temps above 25 celcius, and so on. I actually had 3 females and 1 male in my tank previously, but this female actually chased everyone. Which is why I swapped to this. Can't really get a divider in this, so I guess I just have to either wait it out, or find larger Convicts. :) And yes, I really want this female, that's why. >.< Which is why this is a bit complicated. Usually breeding Convicts should be easy lol.

Better finding larger convicts then.

To encourage spawning you'll want to maintain a temp of at least 78F
We're talking about the convicts, they didn't give a hoot what the tank conditions, what tank size, what the water temperatures are etc.....

I did the same, except it was a Tic Tac container. Cool mint....

Beside the jokes the posters made, it is true that convicts are easiest egg laying fish to breed. Knew a poster on here had a small pair of cons successfully spawned in a 5gal hexagon aquarium.
