Infested with tiny white worms

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well live foods tend to be messier than commercial pellets or flakes, maybe try feeding some NSL and see if there is a difference
I would if I still have any NLS left.. I used up the last container a few months back..

Planaria can supposedly come in on actual fish food. IDK how true that is, just pet shop lore I've picked up.
Never heard of that but thanks for sharing..

Sounds more like detritus to me, do more frequent w/c's they are not harmful, just an eyesore

Yes, it's definitely an eyesore.. I've been keeping up with the water changes daily..

increase the water movement in the tank, and more frequent water changes should eliminate them for the most part, most of the time they hide in the substrate or filter, every tank has them or will have them, other than being annoying to look at they are completely harmless, it's not caused by poor maintenance. now if they were brown then you would have detritus worms, which is a sign of poor maintenance.
I'm pretty sure they are white.. like snow kinda white.. I see less of them today so the water changes work I guess.. Or they may have found a hideout in the filter lol

I've had them turn up from time to time and wondered how they got into a tank in the first place. They are living things and lax management doesn't just create them...

Very True. Algae and beneficial bacteria are also living things. Funny how all this stuff can appear without stocking lol.

I have planaria worms show up time to time. I see them as cleaners of the tank and good to have around. Although a sign of some overfeeding, or messy eaters if very plentiful.
