A simple computer fan blowing at the water surface, can drop the temperature up to 5 degrees. You'll have to take care your fish don't jump out, of course.

They don't require caves, but they like their own privacy so any hideout will be appreciated. I left some holes under the dry area of my paludarium, but I rarely see any fish in there. Most of the time they just hang among the vegetation.
