From what I understand thats salinity. These little guys need brackish water in there younger stages, and then thrive in full marine conditions as they grow. They will nip and bite like most puffers, so Im not sure of tank mates however I have never dabbled in salt water myself. They can grow up to ~6inches as far as I have seen.

yeah thats the salinity level. above info is correct they are brackish when young but they are often kept in freshwater by mistake due to poor info and lack of research, and it kills them very fast. my friend wouldnt listen to me and his only lasted 3 weeks in freshwater. they should have full salt water when older.

okii . so brackish water is about 3 tablespoons of marine aquerium salt per litre.
how are full marine water conditions kept?

Keeping full marine is keeping a salt water tank. You can go to your LFS and buy salt water by the gallon if you would like or you can mix it on your own. Will require things like live rock and coral sand and protein skimmers like all salt water setups.

You would simply need everything required to run a salt water tank. I debated setting one up to house a porcupine puffer because I fell in love with one at the LFS but the cost and time was a little out of my league so I went on the search for the right 100% freshwater puffer for me and my needs.

Is there any specific reason why you like the green spotted puffer? Or it it simply because it the first puffer you have come across at a store. That's how it was for me when I first saw them at the store until I did my research and saw all the varieties and choices out there.

Yu get me so well. There just the cutest lilguys ever. I am open so any freshwater varitys. I really dnt want to start a marine tank cuz i ent ready for tht yet. Can yu possibly give me sum freshwater specie please

First we all gotta know what size tank you have before we can tell you what species you have to chose from. Some of the most attractive freshwater puffers easily break 16 inches, one of which being able to hit 36 and needing 1000+ gallons.

Damn thts huge. Well it cant exeed more than 11" cuz the tank is 4ft lng. 22" high and 11" frnt tu bk.
