Hey clos, I got a question for you...did you buy them at the same size, because I bought a pair from a lfs and was told they were male and female, one was darker and less color then the other, which I would assume the female is the darker one...couple months go by and the female is out growing the male by alot...is this normal?? Oh by the way great looking terrors...gd luck

Thanks and I got the female first she's about 5 months old got her at 1.5 inches and BADLY beat up, no fins. Male I got about 1 month ago pretty much the same size he is now. Just chunkier than he was. Female has always been extremely light or dark depending on how she feels but her personality really came out once they both got their own tank. Used to be with a jd

Ok cool...the only info I know about eggs is that if they turn white after a couple of days they are no good, but if they are a amberish color, they are fertile, and if the terrors are new parents theres a good chance they might eat them ( sorry for any miss spelled words lol )...keep updating, gd luck!!!

The eggs will hatch in about 5 days after the eggs hatch the parents will hid the wigglers in a pit (don't get nervious if you don't see them) and then about a week later you'll see free swimming fry. Don't feed the fry until they go free swimming. With 1st time parents they will sometimes eat the eggs and sometimes it takes a few trys to get it right. However there is the possibility they get it right the first time. Do your normal water change. Do another one before the fry go free swimming too. Letting the parents rase the fry is a good idea if they are in thier own tank but put a sponge over the filter inputs or just set up a growout tank with an aged sponge filter and tank water.

They're considered free swimmers once they're swimming around freely. Lol. You'll know it when you see it. Its like a tiny school of fish swimming around. Congrats and good luck raising them!

Yup! Looks like you have a ton of fry. The rest in the pot should become free swimmers by the end of the night.
