Info On Overhead Filtration?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm a tech junkie. Call me crazy, but I much rather prefer an open metal stand with exposed filtration and gadgets to a fancy wooden cabinet. My gripe with flower pots and rubbermaids is the simple fact that they are an eye sore. A clean acrylic/glass OHF with neatly layered media is more my speed.

As for stock, I won't reveal too much, but the tank is going to be PACKED.

I agree but how to know if it's more than enough? I'm planning to custom an overhead filter but just not sure how big of a filter I should be doing..

Been doing a ton of research and some words of advice...its easiest if you make the OHF the length of the tank. Width is pretty much up to you. For my 4x2x2, I'm planning an OHF measuring 48" x 8" x 10". Between the bioballs and ceramic rings, I should be able to handle a HUGE bioload, while the canisters will take care of mechanical as well as addition bioload.

After reading up on OHF & some advices, I decided that my current overhead filters are truly sufficient.. Why waste more money on something that you already have.. :)
