I was given one of these beauts and would like to know aggression levels cuz hes getting beaten by a surnamensis way smaller than him or her . Will he be able to hold his own or what I thought they were pretty mean. hes in a 125 with an oscar 2 true parrots a gt and the surnamensis , filtered by 2 xp3s and an ac110

Mine 11" male will chase and torment most any other cichlid near his size. Does not bother or even have concern with smaller. Even would challenge my red devil pair, that is until my RD male got tired of the Argentea antics and gave him quite the whoopin'.

Yours may just need time to get adjusted to the tank.

Your probably right hes only about 3" but everytime he goes to check his new digs the geo lays into him , when he fights back the parrot takes up for the geo ... vicious cycle lol

My only Vieja experience is with black belts, and those guys were generally some of the more aggressive fish I've ever kept.

An argentea is at the top of my wish list right now...absolutely beautiful fish. Keep us updated on the progress of yours. Good luck.

its cuz hes only 3 inches. once he gets some size on him he very well may terrorize your oscars. they can get a bit nasty when they reach adulthood

A guy I met up with to buy some items, has a big Argentia. (looks around 14")
It glassbangs at his full grown Rottweiler.

the oscar and geo are destined for my 180 im just trying to find a cool mix for a 125 cichlid tank im hoping the parrots and argentea along with a cuban can coexist in this tank

Any cichlid dropped into an already established hierarchy will get its arse kicked, unless its much bigger than the rest. But if it gets thru a few days, an argentea can stand up to anything. I had a 13" male that had a 14" dovii and similar sized managuense pinned into opposite corners of a tank. I removed the argentea to save thte others from sure death.

I have a pair right now and they are doing good(i put them in with all larger cichlids)not to much agression, hopefully by the time they get a little larger, every fish in the tank will be adjusted to each other, the female is like 7 inches and the male is around 10 inches, the rest of the tank mates are larger bocourti pair male 14inches female 11 inches(getting move to their own tank soon)pearsei 15 inches,uaru12 inches, only fish close to there size is a 8 in severum(but the severum is the meanest in the tank, everybody avoids it ,lol).I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will remain pretty calm, only time will tell.
