It's a type of Giant gourami...with bigger teeth lol. Just google Osphrenemus.

Thanks , i kow its a type of GG . Its just that i cannt find much info about V' Gourami .

I have already had a GRFG a year or so back and am wanting a new Gourami and my LFS has 2 Vampire Gourami .

It's the same info as a regular giant gourami. The species name is Osphronemus exodon.

wow your getting yourself into this thing?

they are nothing like giant gourami other than they are big themselves. they do eat tankmates. kinda like an oscar+exodon in a black giant gourami's body.

I keep my O. exodon with some fully aquatic turtles and a tiny, undersized N. istlanum. That's about all he can coexist with. When I kept him with my mahseers they were always missing scales, suffering from torn fins, and were extremely skittish. Eventually (at only about a 6" size) he offed one, and thus must now live in the gulag with the turtles.

At 10" he pops off goldfish like there is no tomorrow.

Nothing like em...except being the same in every way except the teeth stick out more...I've had regular O. goramy that were just as aggressive. I had a 10" that used to chase my 28" Silver aro around the tank. It is naturally, like the other two Osphronemus, a herbivore.

Thanks for the info .

still thinking , should i get one or not . It really depends if i could get the 6x4x2Foot Stock tank .
