thank you for being the voice of reason while I was outside riding a bike with my kid.

you're standing on the edge of a cliff in this hobby my friend. You're one step away from self destruction right now. That's not a threat from me- that's an observation from having run this website for the past decade. I'm not going to stop you, because the type of dumpster fire you're on the verge of lighting is great for clicks and traffic.
Still, you REALLY need to listen to people who actually know what they're talking about. You're not ready for that pond.
I live right next to the everglades its pretty hot right where i live all year round even the water is hot also
I too am from Florida. I also happen to be a fisheries biologist. This is, shall we say, wrong.
It's better to have two small heaters than one larger one incase one fails.
Edit: I did the numbers and a fully set up 30 gal comes incredibly close to 500. Especially if you want to to be a planted tank.
I can attest to this. I set up a brand new 30 as a growout for my new juruense. I'm into this tank for about $400.
You know theres peacock bass here in florida right and they can survive the florida temps
Only in certain places in the state that are highly conducive to their survival. If you just drop them in a pool that is...
at the least a couple of feet deep
...They will die. A rubber liner will NOT insulate the body of water in the pond sufficiently to keep them alive.
No im in the planning phase right now
Perfect time to quit this pond idea, especially if your budget is only $500. You have a choice between a half ass pond doomed to failure or a kick ass 30 gallon blackwater or planted or whatever setup for the jelly cat that's done correctly and sustainably. Which do you think you'll enjoy more?
also im not a beginner that pond was supposed to be for my 8 year old goldfish which died because of my sister put her hands in the aquarium when i was in school
That's not why it died. Period.
i never said i wasnt going to get a filter i was going to get plants and let algae grow so it doesnt put too much pressure on the filter
If you're not going to do it right right from the beginning, then don't do it. Monster is a mindset, not a tank size. You're not acting like a MFKer with this mindset.
It does when its a toddler
You wont believe how dirty toddler hands are
I'm a dad. Try me. Nothing on that kid's hands could kill that fish unless that kid was into some sort of chemicals that would get CPS involved, and I sincerely doubt that would be the case.
