Aaron, I fish Potholes Reservoir every summer and catch many channel cats every time. I'm more than willing to bring you back a decent sized specimen, or you can join me and catch one yourself! Fishing season is just around the corner ;)

Any updates yet? Did you find any xanthic LMBs or out anything in it?

No, nothing. As usual.

We should totally just go fishing! Don't worry about saving me a fish, that's a lot of trouble for you. We can go together and take it straight to my house for deworming and quarantine. I PM'ed another mystical being who claims he can produce a blue catfish. I don't believe it for a second, since I've been waiting three years for any of these yokels to put their money where their mouths are. But I'll bet that pond can handle a channel and a blue just fine, if it's true and he can get one.

Either way, we should go fishing!

Is blue or channel catfish native to or found in these creeks?

Put a bubbler in to keep the top from freezing over and put in an arapima. They also recognize their owners and beg for food. They can tolerate cold water but need to gulp air.

He can't do any non natives because the pond is connected to a creek, and I can only imagine what an arapaima would do to an established NA ecosystem.

Doubt that pima could survive in Washington winters, nor they could tolerate cold temperatures.

Actually they can tolerate cold waters. I knew a person that kept one in a pond that would freeze over every winter-he kept a bubbler in it so the top stay opened.

Yeah not buying that story....

Is there any actual documentation of this? If so, it could be an absolute "game changer" for many hobbyists around the country. I do however find it quite hard to believe that an animal that has evolved in a tropical climate, with a probable average yearly low temp in the low to mid 60's, could survive sustained freezing temps. Bubbler or not.

As for the time being, I don't believe there's a shred of truth in your statement. Though by all means, please prove me wrong!
