Sorry about your knife, a cool fish they are, after he was injured you couldn't do nothing to fix him which wasn't your fault. We had that happen to a few plagues once but nothing like that. I would suggest letting the oscar grow a bit and maybe getting a larger knife (not black ghost) even though it may make you keep up with your water parameters a little more.

Sorry for your loss
I appreciate your condolences, it means more than you think.
Unfortunately bgk have a slow growth rate and a bit varied too. Any Oscar will outgrow it quick. Better to keep separated for a while.
hmmmm I'm thinking I'll just buy a 150-200g then and put my oscar in there when it's cycled, then keep my bgk in a spare 72g until he's big enough to transfer.

I thought bgks get up to 18-20 inches, I figured an adult bgk would be safe from an oscar. What larger knife fish are you thinking? I might be interested, especially since Im already thinking of tank mates I could house with the bgk

Clown or feather knifes might be OK, but I'd still be careful, I say that alot, because its usually better safe than sorry.
