oh it had this white film on it the first day. fungal infections are something i'm not used to, bloat is the most serious problem i've had the last coupe of years.

catfish is out of the tank btw, so now its just the gar in there

me tooo

i'm worried he might have a broken back, most of the pics i've seen show a hump in the back, which he doesn't have, but his back half does sag a bit, but he also straightens out, so i don't know what it means

Ur gar will not habve broken back without a tankmate unless it dashes around madly
Here's what I've done in the past for injured/sick ancient fishes (gars, lungfishes, etc.) as per Solomon's (E_americanus) instructions:

  1. Bump the water temperature up to 82°F.
  2. Add one tablespoon of salt per ten gallons of water.
  3. Do a 50% water change every other day.
  4. If the wound gets infected, gob Neosporin on just the infected area; a large amount will be needed to ensure that some of it sticks to the affected area.
This treatment has worked great for me every time that I've used it and recovery times for the fishes were minimal, so it should work just fine for you, too.

well it did have a tankmate, the catfish that attacked it, so it very well could have run into the glass, i didn't think it was broken, but i started to notice the sag a bit more, it straightens out when he swims, so i'm sure it's fine
