I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. If it 's eating than he obviously isn't too stressed out. You rays are always very heathy and not to mention amazing looking. I have no doubts that under your care he'll pull through.

I think it is from a barb, one of mine has the same kind of wound, but it actually in the gills! Its still eating which is always a good sign!

What is your filtration intake like? Overflow box or Canister? Just covering all the bases, and I know this is a stupid question for an advanced ray keeper.. just curious though...

The tank is not overly filtered. I only have a few Aquaclears on it but they get a 30% water change every day.

I may increase to two 30% changes per day until this clears up.

Not as much worried about water quality as I was thinking perhaps the ray got curious with a powerful canister filter intake, and could of had some 'suction' time on his underbelly, which developed into a sore..

There is not much in there.

It is a 220 with sand substrate. It has two heaters with guards, three filter intakes and one powerhead.

There is no decor. They need all the space.
