injured sunshine pleco pls help advise

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That wound looks like it was nip by a much bigger fish, not from another pleco, I've had L-14, two giants before and they don't do that, even if they were both males...

Since its almost a month now, hows it doing? Hope your fish is doing well.. otherwise, it might get real nasty, it can be an unrecoverable wound..

unfortunately she went septic and I lost her. I had her in a hospital tank and treated with baytril. It was a really nasty wound. The pectoral fin was basically ripped off and went necrotic. The skin was gone all around the base of the fin and all the tendons were exposed. Not good. I would love to know what happened to her. SHe was in a 75g with another sunshine, a rope, a 3 inch syno decorus and four thin line silver dollars.

Since then I have moved the other sunshine into a 50g with a 3 inch sunshine. I moved my 8 inch or so sunshine into the 75. She is big enough that I am not worried about her. I kind of want to pick up one more to have four. In hope that in a couple years I may have a pair and can try my hand at breeding. My dilemma now is that a lfs has a 3 inch one for $100 and that just seems like too much. So do I pass it up and home some more come along in that size to 5 inches or do I just buy it and not risk waiting. Got to love this addiction.
