so I got a new tiger serpent starfish the other day at night it seemed to be extremely active and whenever the light was turned on it moved with incredible speed and seemed to be in great health
one day I decided to move some rocks around and reshuffle the tank for my corals.
so I set it to the side and did my work and went on my way.
well the star found a place at the base of a rock and so did my engineer goby..
the goby dug under the rock made it shift and fall on my tiger serpent and cracked its main bottom in half on the bottom side.
the top is fine kind of.. it looks sort of like a v with it dented in the middle along the crack..
the bad thing is that was two days ago.. it still is moving around much to my amazement..
but everytime it moves.. it gets worse..
tonight it lost a leg.
its still moving along great.. minus the huge split along the bottom part of its body.

I doubt it can recover but want to know for sure.
thoughts?

They are actually more resiliant than people think. I have seen these stars physically split in half by accidental rock collapse, and still regenerate, into "two" stars...Keep water quality prestine and target feed meaty chunks....Do keep us informed how it gets on...

well its mouth area is completely destroyed..
Im amazed its still around at all to be honest
it keeps moving around like nothings wrong.. with a split body and 4 legs though.
from the top you can tell its crushed pretty good Ill have pics tomorrow

i know elevated levels of iodine help prevent infection in mushrooms corals and other corals when they're fragged cut etc.
would that help any..
not that a split body would be easily infected......
