Good day,

Long story very short- had a major leak, needed to move stingray, she has an awful injury, I do not know how she was injured, can someone please tell me the best treatment to prevent infection etc.
Thank you

You really haven't provided enough info to assist you fully...
Was she housed alone or with other rays? Other tank mates?
Has she shed her barb recently? If yes, were you able to recover it from the tank?
Was the wound present before or after the leak? Before or after you moved her?
Does the system you moved her to have a fully cycled filter?
What are your ammonia, nitrite & nitrate readings?
What is your water change schedule....frequency & amount of exchange?
I would start by adding salt @ 1tbsp/2gal to promote slime coat regeneration & reduce the bacterial load in the water column & prevent further infection.

Yes, I understand what you've mentioned and appreciate the thorough information requirement. I'll add the salt promptly, thank you for your reply.

She was housed with discus, she got a bit stressed as the water level dropped and she wasnt able to go to her usual places, I did not notice any injury when she was removed from her tank. She stayed in a container overnight alone. When we moved her to the new tank is when we noticed her injury as she swam up the glass we saw her underside.
Her main tank 0 ammonia and nitrite and 20ppm nitrate. Has a sump filtration system, water change 1-2 times weekly 50%.
She has a second barb coming in, the old one has not dropped yet, I look and remove shed barbs promptly. She was moved to a fully cycled tank there are some tetras in there.

Thanks for the extra info.

Was there filtration in the container she was in overnight? What volume of water? Any sharp edges? Rays produce a crazy amount of ammonia which can burn there skin.

Was she eating normally prior to the leak?

No filter, added sufficient seachem prime, nothing sharp, it's a smooth sided container, i think it is 40 gallon container added an air stone and heater off the base. She was eating well prior to this catastrophe.

Is it possible she pushed the heater against the wall of the container? Rays are very inquisitive. I'm an ICU RN...the shape & appearance of the wound is quite burn like 🤔

If it is a burn, salt, lots of clean water, good nutrition & time should heal this wound. I would keep the salt concentration consistent with each water change until the redness & sloughy tissue has subsided & looks to be healing. then halve it for a week, then let it wash out completely with water changes after that.
