Input on my tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nice pleuro. How big and how old is it?
you have some bruiser cichlids growing up.
Should be interesting down the line

No idea to be honest I have had him about 6 Months and he wasn't small when I got him! He is the boss of the tank and keeps the cichlids in line. Yeah I know and I have a jaguar and a peacock bass still to add! But I have a fairly unique attitude to comm tanks... i heavily over stock with babie so they grow up together (reduces aggression) then I plan to just keep the ones that get on and I like. It helps the fahaka is 17-18 inches and no one f**ks with her... well not twice anyway. She doesn't destroy them just nips so they recover and learn the lesson (the snakehead had this experience a few eeeks ago). It's a fascinating but hard work tank!!

I just got a new tank for him I'm going to seed the tank with chiclids and let them establish and add him in after. See how it works. If not I've always wanted a chiclid tank. Win win

I just purchased two cichlids and 2 Cory cats. I'm going to establish the tank then them let them get settled and see how it goes. I have a back up tank worse case scenario.

Ok I think he's much happier He has noticed his new tank mates. I've seen him chase once. It quickly ended when the cichlid dipped back into his cave. The cichlids are smaller than him. Even though I sincerely hope they make it I didn't want Majora hurt and they can fit into smaller spaces than him. I did a full round of seed and let my Tetras live in the tank prior to the cichlids.

Nice job with the aquascape.

The new set up looks great! Lots more places for him to explore and hunt.. the Cory cats might be in danger... my fahaka loves to kill things that move along the bottom of the tank. I think it's something to do with the prey drive for crabs/crayfish etc. Also what cichlids have you put in?

I pulled the corys before he went in. I noticed they looked pretty shrimp like and werent going to be quick enough to escape him. They are comfortable in my community tank. Since this was an experiment I got some cheap guys. They were labeled as "Mixed Cichlids" so I'm not sure what hey actually are as far as African ext. I'll post some pics of them. We are at a full 24 hours and so far no casualties. Majora still likes to burrow in the sand in the far left corner of the tank. Forget all the new hiding spots lol.
