Input? Porsche Boxster/S2000/R32

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Itchy I was only joking about feeling like a poseur.. I think I still botched the spelling. If I was going to go the R32 route I think I would wait for the R36. At least I would get some more hp and a different look since my current car a 00 GTI would look very similar to the R32.
An Audi A3 3.2 Quattro, which is also based on the Golf/Jetta/TT platform, would use the essentially same mechanicals as the R32/R36, but have a different look--four doors and more of a sport wagon. Plus, it would be nice inside. :) The engine would still be transverse though. :(

Let me put it this way.

I have 2 kids to think about when I buy a car, so an S2000 is unrealistic. You don't have to worry about that. So Enjoy ur S2000 now and save teh EVO and STi for later when you have kids and need a sedan. LOL

Good point...

Itchy: I have similar views I don't care at all for the convertable but I like the coupe a lot. The only problem is I am trying to stay around 30 grand and definately will not be spending more than 35.

Die Fled: I really appreciate your input. I will be calling my buddy to drive his S2000 this weekend.

Thanks again guys:headbang2

Oh ok.. i would go with the rest and say s2 then.. you wouldnt want to be accused
of buying a "budget" porsche... and performance -wise , s2000s kicks as. Ive seen it
on japanese dvds running on tracks and the boxter is left far behind.

wtf? A stock s2k is NOT going to leave a boxterS behind. Sorry. Have driven both and there is no comparison. S2k is a great car, I am not bashing. But a boxter S is simply a BETTER car. Is it worth the extra cost (almost double) ? probably not, but it IS better.

If you are talking regular boxter, then yes , that is comparable to an S2k... that is a better comparison.

If you had they money, the cayman would be a nice option also. The lotus is serious hardcore shiat, BUT, only if you have a 32" waste or smaller. I have NOT driven one, but I have ridden in one. it is NOT a realistic car for anything other than the track. ANd I am not fussy about the "comforts".. I drove an evo for 3 years (or 2 years.. whatever) and lots of other rough and tumble cars... but the elise is basically a track car only. You would HATE IT.

If you're willing to spend some more money, the new Z4 coupe is out:

I've always though the Z4 convertible was FUGLY, but the Z4 coupe appeals to me. It has a classic look to it, kinda like an old Triumph GT6. The 330 hp M-version is around $49K and the 255(?) hp 3.0l is around $40K, I believe.

haha!! me too. The z4 is fugly but I think the new z4 coupe in M getup is HOT.... my wife likes it too.

I was thinking the same thing. An S2000 (240 hp) should out-accelerate a base model Boxster (201-240 hp, depending on year), but not a Boxster S (250-280 hp, depending on year). Both cars weigh about the same, around 2,800 lbs. Published 0-60 times for the Boxster are around 6 seconds, around mid 5s for the S2000, and in the low 5s for the Boxster S.

be a real odd guy and get a Golf TDI and tune the hell out if it. I've seen some WICKED TDIs
