Believe it or not, here is how my day started...I go to feed my fish, and one of my most aggressive fish was laying on its side...on my floor...

two days ago I started draining my tanks because I was going to rip the old carpet out of my room, the fish were put into buckets and i went about ripping apart my room...finally finish the next day...fill the tanks as much as i can before i give up and sleep. At about 9/10 I here a big Splash, something I'm use to, Jack seems to like flying threw the air...

So I get up at 6 and drive my friend to work, come back and mess with some stuff, go and feed my community tank...then i went to grab jacks bucket to see him just chilling on the floor :(:(:(

Oddly, he was dark...showing his stripes and spots very brightly...and his gills were open, all a sudden his mouth openned...so i put him back in his bucket, then in his tank...he swam around then layed on his side...i pushed some water against his gills and he swam away angerly!

Hes just Chilling watching me post this. I'm not 100% sure if he will live, but this isn't the first time he jumped. The owner of the pet store i got him told me how she found him on the floor covered in hair and dirt and when she went to pick him up he started flopping around...

now that is crazy. Hopefully it will survive. How big is your Jack?

That's a funny story... I've had Balas, Bichirs and a dwarf gourami jump out of their tanks... All survived except the Balas... That's why lids are important!

id say 5-7 inches. He eats Anything, from Pork to lettuce.

Poor Jack haha. Give him a bit of salt, It will help him recover and breath easier.

My Fenestratus jumped out once and flopped around on the floor and got covered in hair and dirt. He laid on his side in the tank and had trouble balancing for a good 6 hours. I thought I was going to lose him but he pulled through. The salt helped tramendously.
*Dont feed him pork.

Water quality is much more important than salt. I've never used salt except for my marine and brackish tanks (obviously). Expecially since most people don't use it properly. They don't know how much to add and how to mix it the right way, thus negatively affecting the already stressed fish.

OP - If your Jack is still swimming, just make sure you keep his water very clean (50% water change every 5 days until he's back at full strength). This is just my opinion/experience.

My jack gets in moods, sometimes he loves when i come to the tank and sometimes he pretends his a rock.

His colours are very bright and his eyes are wide open, but hes not swimming but I'll just attribute that to his attitude.
