Yep, it's the Buffalo Darter, Etheostoma bison. The upper fish is the Mountain Redbelly Dace, Phoxinus oreas. The darters are a big group, and most of them are pretty, small, and easy to keep. I don't know why they haven't become more popular, besides the fact that they are cool-water species.
Thanx,...It's a sweet a** fish, one of the coolest I've ever since........where can I get some

Rayzrs- See PM.

Sean- Those Etowahs are gorgeous fish. I haven't gotten into the Gulf drainages much yet; lots of great fish down there.

Yanbbrox- Sorry, I didn't mean to divert your thread. Have you considered hillstream loaches? They would love a tank like that. Maybe you could throw in some schools of danios or other little stream cyprinids for activity. You might need to set up a separate 'algae farm' for the loaches, but that's not too hard.

Where is the progress ont his tank? I need something to look at while the pond project is down for the winter.

BUMP for Zenn!

I was thinking of some type of lizard tank for the wife but as no one is playing the bump for zen game I'm in a mood:irked:

Consider me bumped...Reptile I thought you already decided a Christmas present for Mrs Y...
What reptilian wonder did you decide?:D

what i would do-

1. Total planted aquarium, if you can find someone to do it profesionally-Do it.

2. If you have a big couch good, if not buy a big couch

3.- build a stand to be behind the couch with the aquarium bottom at the couches top level.

4. put all against a big wall

5.- big Flat screen TV and coffee table in front of couch.

I had to tell her about the idea and the info from the reptile folk on here have put me off the idea. Also the only place in the house where it could fit is where it is now but that room is not heated which is causing concern with temps either as a fish tank or rep setup
