That gives some DIY ideas. Can you get a pic of the bottom and show where the in/out is?

I've been thinking about a DIY FBF for a while. I have a Merlin PLus sand filter. It seems pretty simple, I want to scale up the design to fluidize about a gallon of sand.

they water come in though the bigger "hole" and goes out through those smaller holes...

when its working that the chamber will look like that "empty".. where the sands are push out and suspend above those tholes

when it stop working the sand will compact in that chamber.. which is why sometimes its hard to start a FBF..

Cool. I have a tube I plan on using for one.

the big opening is where the water comes in and then get forced through the holes...

i ran this FB900 for about 3 years now... it sprung a leak on the bottom.. so i decided to rib the bottom piece out.. seem like they are using some kind of rubber cement. so its pretty easy to take out..

That's the problem with these things... the one I sold to Eric exploded when the bottom piece fell out. They should use a stronger glue.

Also, aside from the clogging of the sand with debris, these things are great!
