I do like the natural look of LEDs. What lights would you recommend? Would I have to keep low light plants?

It's really dependent on the depth of your tank, but if we're talking 18" (and frankly I haven't tested with a 24" tank so they may work for them too) or shorter you wouldn't need low light plants. I prefer this off-brand LED light company called Beamswork.. They're affordable and look/work great.
