I looked it up to see what is in it, but they aren't giving up any secrets. Which is typical for products like this.

This simple-to-use weekly additive eliminates water care guesswork.
Products like this have surfaced in the past but all were pulled from the market as a dismal failure. The target market is people who don't test their water. Unfortunately, there is no getting around testing marine tanks. The rule of thumb is "If you can't test for it, don't add it." The obvious exceptions are trace minerals and vitamins, which are in this product. It is far better to dose trace minerals and vitamins on their own, rather than using an all in one product. You should be able to control what you add and don't add.

Prevents fluctuations in multiple chemical parameters
There are only two parameters (that I can think of) that you can prevent from fluctuating. They are pH and calcium (sort of). The pH is buffered by the bicarbonate ions in the water, and the precipitation of calcium is prevented by excess phosphates. What you experienced was probably caused by the addition of bicarbonate ions in the presence of elevated levels of bicarbonate, calcium, and magnesium ions. Most likely, calcium, magnesium, or both had precipitated.
