Insulating Indoor Pond

My question is should I place the sheets of insulation under my pond liner or outside of the plywood (I would place another piece of plywood over this to conceal it)?

If I place the insulation under the liner than I will be loosing quite a few gallons, but it will give the liner something soft to sit on.
Is it worth losing the gallonage? I sanded the plywood as best as I could but I am nervous I overlooked something. I am scared even the tiniest splinter could cause a small hole.

Also, does anyone have exp with Tetra pond liners?
I just purchased one and am wondering if they are safe to use.

You'd be better off with the insulation between plywood than under the liner. You don't want the insulation to be compressed- it works best without being smashed.

Thanks for the advice. Should I place a layer of thin plastic between the wood and the liner?
