btw progressive gave me $498 for year , Insurancenyc gave me $260 a year

My Homeowner's policy is with Farm Bureau Insurance and they included my aquariums under the same category as the household water supply and plumbing/plumbing fixtures (hotwater heater, tub, washer, toilet, sinks, hose connections, etc.). Adding the aquariums to the plumbing category caused only a $12-$14 increase to my policy premium.

i know im in the uk but im sure the insurance companies think alike regardless of which side of the pond your on.

get as much info as you can about your water damage section. im renewing my household insurance and one company said damage from my washing machine/condenser dryer/aquarium was covered BUT the actual appliance was not. i found this to be an unusual clause but none the less it exists in a few policies.

so be clear about what your asking when it comes to your tanks.

Like C2006 said, ...the fixtures/appliances themselves are not covered. That's what waranties are for. The insurance covers damages caused by the failure of these fixtures/appliances to the overall property/structure of the home.
