I finally got around to getting a background for my tank.

It looks okay but I'm not too happy with the contrast between the dark background and the bright intake of the XP3's.

So, I was wondering if anyone has opted to not use those turquoise intakes and instead used anything else? Specifically something black?

TIA :)

I'll probably have to just buy a bunch of intakes from the LFS and experiment.

I don't know about dye, but painting may be possible. The same type of paint used on the inside of DIY aquariums perhaps... I know nothing about that sort of thing though.

Paint it with Krylon fusion and let it cure for a day before using it again.

is all spray paint ok in tanks, or only kyrlon fusion. i want to spray mine black to match my background also

I painted the extension tubes and screen on mine with Krylon.

Works great, but still have the overflow section still sticking out in plain sight. Would have to take it out of the tank to pain it, and its the only filter on the tank...

I would only use fusion since it bonds to the plastic.
It has been tested by many people on here at it's safe. I'm not sure about normal enamel, latex, or lacquer paint.

Great, thanks for the help guys.

Can the krylon fusion be scraped off by loricariids? I've got a royal, and an L14, which worries me.

The man with the answers. I think I have a paint job to do in the near future.

My 12" Royal never touched it.
