Intank overflow/trickle filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks good, but I'm not sure how much media (mech, bio, chem) you could fit in that space. Is that all bio media?

seems liek a good idea but might be hard to set up the pump wit ha prefilter on top seems like a good idea .

Here is another version which is simpler and cheaper to make which also takes up less space with less chance of leakage. If you google for a side drop trickle filter you might be able to find working photos online.

You can keep the internal baffle if you want to keep the bottom uptake idea although the space between glass baffles gets dirty very fast IMO

The tank will be 2' deep x 4' wide x 8' long...the bio chamber will run the whole 8'...
Being laminated from fiberglass the bottom of the bio-chamber will drain to the center outlet, before being pumped back into the tank.

On top of the bio-media will be the standard floss/foam/foam prefilter and egg create...

so the stack of filters will be:
Floss
Coarse foam
Fine foam
Egg create
Bio-balls
Egg create

Bio-balls in aprox 18" x 10" x 96" or approx 75gals.

Yeah thanks, but having the pump internal would be a major pain to clean...

I would also be nice to make some sort of holder for the bioballs that you could pull out to clean them periodically. I like the idea. And running the length of the tank would hold a lot of them!

Great idea!...one big cartridge. Floss/foam/foam/bio-balls.
I could make a basket out of egg-crate, zip-tie it together, perfect...
Thanks.

Check out Midnights tank. Is similar to what you are thinking of doing.
