So I’m looking for interesting books to read on Central America cichlids. I recently finished reading the cichlid fishes, and I’m currently reading Central America cichlids. Now I’m on my quest for the next book to read, I’m not looking for online reading, I’m looking for books that I can order from amazon, something to read not on a screen...a real page turner ahaha

thanks for any suggestions

The one above, is one of the most comprehensive, and others seem to be cocktail table (basically photo) books in comparison as far as reading goes. But below, ( it was easier to just get a pic than write them all out) is my 50 + years of cichlid keeping collection.

There are also books dedicated to the fish of individual countries, like the Freshwater Fishes of Mexico by Robert Rush Miller,
and one I use constantly these days (because of my location) "The Freshwater Fishes of Costa Rica" by Willam Bussing which shows locations of species all
over Central America.
Subscriptions also keep it fresh.

My personal favourite book for Central American cichlids at the moment is North & Central American Cichlids in the Display Aquarium by Lee Nuttal. It is especially great if you are into creating biotope style aquariums, as well as information like species profiles, feeding, filtration, disease etc (just to name a few) plus it is a really nice book with excellent photography.

Yes the cichlid fishes by Barlow was a great read and I was hoping for something like to to continue reading.
I will be examining these photos today for something to order :-)

When I moved to Panama, I donated about 2/3 to my local aquarium club library (most of the large African Cichlid books, and generic types) just not reasonable to haul thousands of miles, only keeping those relevant to what I might find here.
As you can see by the wear, this one is my field guide, and gets a lot of use.

It is a pretty amazing book. I purchased mine from the link below
This book is def on my wish list but right now it’s price is a little heavy. Hopefully in the next year....looks totally worth it though

If you have the chance to get it in the next year it is definitely worth it
