Interesting exotic mini monster fish for 32 gallon?

Well are you wanting it to be a solo fish? A schooling fish? Sedentary or active? Aggressive or peaceful? Has the ability to eat other fish? There are a lot of questions that can be asked to help us provide a better answer. Without knowing anything else a prehistoric monster fish Thalassophryne amazonica would do nice in that size tank at an adult size of 4”.

Yeah solo

Ocellaris clownfish - puts any other monster to shame
Peacock mantis shrimp would be similar.

Kribensis (like mini convicts in personality), could do a pair.
Noevespicula depressifrons (brackish fish but looks like a mini lionfish), could probably do a trio in there.
Another vote for the frogfish, quite pricy but would fit the bill nicely.
Depending on if it’s legal where you live, a female clawed frog would love that space and is far more of a vacuum cleaner than any fish for that size tank.
I think I’ve heard gulper cats recommended for that size tank but others with more experience with the species can weigh in better.

You probably can't get hold of them but I used to catch

Purple Spotted Gudgeon

Mogurnda adspersa

I feed my guy half grown guppies from the pond.

Snakehead Gudgeons are similar but larger

The hairy puffer are so ugly they are “cute”. They can become quite outgoing and they are fun to feed. They respond well to tong feeding and to watch them eat… just look up some feeding videos, they are awesome!

Here is my little guy Gizmo, who lives in a 46g bowfront with an Aquaclear 110 on it.
