I'm NO expert on Mutts, but I have a few. Problem is many are Thai so god only knows what they really are. BUT I also have a few CB made in America mutts. Sure seems from what I've seen that black genes seem to trump brown. Mix a brown and black and tail looks black ray. Unless Pearls are really blackies.
IF I had to guess your last sentence nailed it. I'd guess Castexi gave the yellow coloring - the perimeter looks just like the Jag I raised. Maybe larger dots and greyish base came from motoro?
Add some Marbling in this is exactly what I hope to produce someday from Falks and Marbles..... "Farbles" or "Marblekneri"
Price would reinforce my theory. IF I'm producing rays with blackie in them why not charge accordingly? Nobody wants a ray without blackie in it so price accordingly......
