I thought that I had read a story one time that either retic's or anaconda's had bred in Florida, maybe they were just making an assumption.

Ya there have been reports of all sorts, but there is no data yet. I have seen water monitors, mangroves, crocodiles (non American), caiman, tegus, etc etc ..... And most arent turned loose just animals that lost homes in the recent hurricane outbreaks we had. Either they escaped from one of the many hundred wholesalers we have here or from enclosures kept outside or in patios which were damaged.

a few will survive the cold and breed and after a while you will end up with a cold hardy population .

It doesnt get cold enough to kill them here. Itll drop in the 40's once in a blue moon, about 3-4 times per winter, but the reptiles can cope with it quite well.

im waiting for croc monitors to get established there.
That'll be fun. :D

 That would be crazy...

I know I'd be traveling to Florida more :grinno:

I dont think people would throw out a 1,000 dollar lizard.

No, not throw them out, but be careless enough to let them escape.....maybe.

Especially with the way they move

That could be a possibility for one or two individuals, but for them to establish a population; highly unlikely
