Just read this and thought some of you guys may find it interesting. More relevant to salt water keepers but still worth a read.
I was surprised how little the people that actually catch the fish get paid per fish.

Thanks for sharing. Pretty scary stuff to be honest, it's compounded by the fact that breeding marine fish is seriously difficult a lot of the time. Hopefully more fish are bred in future and the stocks are managed carefully.

Yep, most fish start off incredibly cheap and throughout a lot of middlemen and losses and shipping the prices get raised substantially. Take yellow tangs for instance, I believe they’re around $1 when first caught, I’m busy atm so I’ll look it up later

That story makes me appreciate life and what I have. Unbelievable what the diving fisherman was getting paid for something so difficult to do.
