giving the tetras back because they were bullying the convict who died shortly after.

the shark ate the plecco

:screwy: This sounds so weird...a tetra bullying a Convict? huh...

Anyways...if you can, avoid the big coperate chains, try getting some fish off local hobbyists. Some small tetars or schooling fish would do well.

i dunno, he said they weren't getting along.. i just assumed because he gave mine back and there was only one convict.. i guess it probably went the other way now that i think about it.. rosie red minnows, i guess that wouldn't be such a bad idea, they're deffinetly cheap enough, and once he's ready to move up he can throw some commets in there and start keeping some real monster fish!

When cycling, take some of your media from a filter that's being used and put it in his filter, as for fish I'd recommend ge tries some cons again....for the most part there pretty hardy.

Get some zebra danios, those things are very hardy and a nice sized school of them looks sweet.

Also no pleco or sharks ever again in that tank, they both outgrow the tank and if they had lived, they would have become a major problem down the road.

yea i was planning on taking the shark back and sticking in my 125 but i was a little too late, i feel like that might be how he got the ick, going from a 125 to a cramped 20, even if he was only about 3 inches. ill recommend some more convicts thou, this time more than one, i always wanted to keep a couple but couldn't dedicate a tank to them. Also, how long should i quarantine his tank before re-cycling it and starting over? right now he's in cali and his ditz girlfriend is failing miserably trying to take care of the remaining fish. im up there all the time fixing her mistakes but i feel like she's doing more harm than good and since she's technically "in charge of it" theres not much i can do besides clean up after her. should i drain the tank and dry it out or just treat for ick and boost the temp for 10 days and consider it fine?

I agree, two female Convicts would be good. But only if the Mystery Snails are no longer in the tank. For pleco's, Bristlenose or Clown would be fine. But as with the snails, have to remember to actually feed the pleco's (algae wafers/zucchini/driftwood). Is he doing weekly water changes? Pleco's, even small ones poop a lot.

Are the Mollies, or any fish with ich still in the tank? Or is the tank empty?
If it's empty, you can go ahead and clean it all out, and if you have extra media in your filter, or an extra filter, put it on his tank or extra media in his filter. If there is still fish in the tank, then I'd say treat for ich and up the temp for 10 days, to get rid of the ich then do the filter switch.

You should try (if it's possible) to teach his gf the basics. I mean, it's not THAT hard to keep fish alive and healthy, haha.
Maybe she should join on here? or give her informative websites to check out.
