Perfect eh?

Living in MN alone tells me your water is far from perfect. IF it was "perfect" the guy up there that's been importing rays for the last decade or so wouldn't be running RO water. The good ol 0/0/less then 10 bit means nothing more then BB is present.

If you wanna take that approach then I'm sure you have it all figured out in that perfect tank, and everything from here on out will be gravy...... Good luck.

so did i miss something? last i knew things like ph were better left alone and the fish would better off in what ever ph your tape was at vs try to change it. or has that now been thrown out? in all my fish keeping i have never had any problems with anything in my water as long as the three perams i gave were in the "green" now has something changed? i would like to know, because that is why i said my water was perfict. i can get ro water and use that no problem. i was going to do a drip system off of a well after i move or an ro drip system added to the well.

What kind of black substrate is that? I am setting up two 72x30x26 (245 gal) tanks soon side by side and I was thinking of black substrate. I have leo/pearl/motoro pups and orbignyi females now but black rays are in the future plans and I think they look best on dark substrate.

that is the black sand they sell at petco. i didnt originally plan for a ray in that tank, just tigerfish. the ray is in there and is having no problems with it. he can bury himself without issues and it doesnt stick to him like alot of other sands stick to rays. it was like $17 for a 20lb bag or something like that. i have always liked black sand. i like it and my ray is happy and heathy so it is a win win.
