Convicts are hardy. Leave them alone, let them spawn. They will take care of themselves and the fry. They will do what they can to a point, and then they will spawn again. I have a pair in every tank. They spawn, they get tuff, the babies start to wander, and the babies become food. The Cons spawn again. Its over and over and over. I had a pair spawn in the same tank with 6 umbee and 2 jags. The Umbee and Jags all are 5+", and the cons 2-3". But they held their own until the fry is free swimming. No one gets hurt, just the fry.
As for the Con/FM hybrid. WOW!! That is going to be one strange looking fish. No store will take the fry, your better off using them as food. Unless you want to grow out a couple hundred of the Firecons.
