Very nice fish, but I do agree how they've changed so drastically in the past month or so, from thin and long bodied with 7 stripes to taller and more "Xingu" like. with the original owners permission, I will post some pictures for comparison.

First are a series of what people call "Xingu" cichla melaniae. all the ones you see in the US are all from 2 separate batches of wild ones brought in through Germany, into the US. Then their off springs, starting off with the wild ones

Awesome thread! And first Xingu pic is mine, kinda forgot how small they were when I got them. Now that they're so big haha brought a little joy seeing this.
