Love that cobia!
Thanks man he's my favorite in the tank has tons of personality hand feeds and I afraid of anyone only my emperor snapper (best personality out of any fish I've ever kept hands down) and my Stars and Stripes puffer have more personality than him. He's a really great fish bascially in fw only a few cups of salt in the 300. I need some nice kelberi orino broko and maybe a Xingu to pimp the tank out and make the intermedia bolder lol

So what are the tank plans for the cobia that can attain 2 meters and 172 pounds? I assume something bigger then the 300 gallon. I googled images and couldn't find one in a fish tank only pics of people fishing for them.

Lol 300gallons is a definitely not a tank size for life. My buddy has a 550 he'll go into when he outgrows my tank (would be awhile tho) and my buddy is planning a 1200 gallon he's planning on right now in his basement. If and when he outgrows those which may even take half a decade for him to outgrow my 300 or buddies 550, my buddy has cousins in SoCal who have monster sized tanks... Like actual serious monster sized tanks he could see about rehoming this rare beauty for me. But for now I'm just going to enjoy it. Sure it'll get 2 meters in the correct environment. Same with bumblebee groupers. But most BBG average out at 3-3.5 feet or less in a decade even ones in pure saltwater which theoretically should grow faster than their freshwater counterparts (more calcium and minerals in the water leading to faster bone growth etc). Anyways if anyone has read any of the literature about cobia farming and aquaculture of cobia in freshwater once cobia hit a certain size they almost completely stop growing. I forget off the top of my head exactly what it was I'll have to go back to that pdf to find it. Anyways like I said for now I'm just going to enjoy it. I just saved it from certain death on the dinner table lol.

In aquaria they're very very rare. I've only seen a couple In aquaria and they're in saltwater reef tanks. They're crazy looking people often ask me what kind of "freshwater" remora is that when they walk in and see it lol. Awesome fish no doubt.

Anyways thanks for asking I'm surprised more people havent tried to give me crap yet on the whole brackish thing which is kinda my thing. There's too many ignorant people with wrong opinions on mfk that's why I don't usually share lol :)

Thanks man he's really awesome. Couldn't believe my luck when I saw him. The only way I knew before then to get them was thru a farm and the minimum legal size they could sell to people even for aquariums or whatever was 20 inches... Makes housing them more of a PITA.

I got him from a saltwater marine fish retailer Florida. Couldn't believe my luck when they said they found one for me I told them I was looking for one. So I acclimated it to nearly freshwater and now it's in my 300 ;) I don't remember how much I got it for I just used my parents credit card so I don't remember I was just too excited but it wasn't super expensive although it was like 2.5 inches
