Has anyone ever used a pool filter/pump for their aquarium? I recently saw an Intex filter/pump for sale at a box store. It said it was rated at 1500 GPH and was only around $70. Also you could get replacement cartridge filters 6 for $30. What do you think?

Those filters are pretty much junk, even for pools with very few free flowing particles.

In a pool ya they dont do much. In a tank is a WHOLE diff story, I already responded to another thread on this, but I had a 800gph on my 330gallon and my water was alwas CRYSTAL clear. I just had to change the cartridge everyday, but what do u expect with big fish.

A lot of people don't have the time or patience to replace the cartridge everyday, but I'm sure with 1500 gph it would have to do something good.

There are much better options in most cases, however.

Depends on your stocking. I used the same pump for my snapping turtle and it could go 1-2 weeks before changing. I had a heavy stock, 15ish big fish
