Gonna be getting some monster cats soon and for their future home I'm wondering if I can keep them in my 680g intex pool or will their spines possibly tear the liner? If it's a problem I have enough materials to make an indoor pond for them, just having trouble deciding right now.

There's a chance they could tear it. If u can I would just build one or use something more sturdy. If u really want to use it u could drape a pond liner in it for extra protection

Yea, I mostly just want to use it cuz it's more convienient... I've heard both good stories and bad about intex pools. If I need to make something custom it's no biggie I have most of the supplies on hand.

there is a guy on here that had 2 xxl intex metal frame pools set up for years, dont remember his name but he has been on here for a long time, he had cats and a ish ton of plecos in em. at the point when i last talked to him he hadnt had any problems with them, cant say that he still hasnt but he had them up for 3 or 4 years already when i talked to him. if your worried about it just drop in a pond liner and you will have double protection.

It all depends on if you are willing to chance it. It may work for others but that doesn't mean it will work for you.

Personally I would do a woodframed pondliner setup before a intex pool for cats. If you are willing to get your house wet if the intex liner gets a hole. and you're willing to possibly lose your fish then go for it.

If you are worried at all that you will not be able to replace some of your stock if it gets a hole then go the safer route and build something.
