Intex pool liner question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine was just a square piece but they will custom make it to fit your pool also, I wasnt goint to spend the extra and I got used to the folds in the sides by now anyways

I ran a 5500g intex this summer...through september. Never really had issues. Overflows are a pain cause of all the change with inflation and h2o levels but other than that no issues.

It might have all to do with the manufacturer, maybe more costly ones have the inhibiters and the others don't, I think I would check before I buy, would'nt you? BTW I was checking and my liner is 30 mill pvc if that matters.

i think you guys no what happened. I used the intex, read up on it and assumed it was just a normal pvc liner. I did all of the construction of the pond correctly, cycled it, maybe not as long as i should have but cycled it. Added over a hundred pounds of live rock to the sump and a refugium as well. My nitrite levels were consistantly high for as long as i had the intex pool up. I went through gallons and gallons of bottled beneficial bacteria and the nitrite would drop for a day and rise again the following day.

The same day i reconstructed the pool using a different liner and different construction but the same filtration, the nitrite dropped. So i am 100% positive a foreign chemical was introduced on the pool. I dont know where it or when it was introduced, but it came in on the intex pool.

Thats all i can say about the situation. I would never take the risk again and would definitely not use them even if i did wash it. Washing it might only be a temporary solution. Who knows if somewhere down the line the chemicals might start seeping back into the water.

Hey buddy how have you been. Good to see you back

My intex never had nitrate problems...I ran mine as an aquaculture project, it was highly stocked.

Never had nitrates over 20ppm.
