I am thinking of getting some more polys but my current ones are big, would the large ones try to eat the small ones?

hey just got myself a fire eel, but its not eating much.
tried feeding him pellets, small shrimps, flakes but he doesnt seem to eat. been 3 days already. just worried he might die of starvation.

My new delhz did that for two weeks. Usually they will come around. (They can go awhile without eating).

Your guy is still new to the tank and getting acclimated. Have you tried some fresh shrimp or some silverside? Beefheart works well too. Good luck. Keep us updated.

my fire eel is doing really fine now.
sorry for the super late reply.
it has grown to like 2 ft long now.
he has been feeding on left overs left by my giant gurami and silver aro.

my mum is scared of him though, reminds her of snakes. lol!!

I have a Endli that's 18" and the smallest is 10" the rest are between 12"-17" for a total of 9 Endli with 3 congicus around 14" with no probs. maybe a little fin split here and there but nothing more. thinking of adding my last 3 Endli at 9" into the tank.I guess it's up to the individual fish's tempermant.oh yeah I also got 2 laps 12",2 ornates 13" and 14" and 2 pollis at 13" in the same tank.

this thread is old and all over the place.

pounder, what size tank you have all those bichers in? any pics? sounds awesome.

glad to hear it is doing better

Yup. Anything they can fit in their mouths. You don't want more than an inch or two difference between the little one and the big ones.
Not completely true if you know the individual fish and isn't know for attacking of tankmates and are within reasonable length of not being bichir food should be okay if you have worries divide the tank or growout in different tank. Also keeping the bichirs all well feed will reduce risk of becoming a future meal
Example how it isn't completely true in that I have a 9" Senegal with my
4" Delhezi don't being bothered at all.
