Introducing friends to the hobby, good/bad experiences?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I started out back in the day with a 55 gallon.. When I moved, I went ahead and upgraded to a 75, and sold the tank to a buddy who really liked my Africans at the time. I gave him about 10 Red Zebra babies to grow in there, and the following week he went and spent like 50 bucks on community fish. Well the $50 was gone about a month later, so he got pissed and took the Zebras to some lfs. Eventually I quit talking to him after we each went our seperate ways and what not. Ended up getting back in touch with him somehow at the beginning of this year, and I went over to his place to see the 55 with piss colored water, 2 Oscars, Bala, Red snook all about 10", a JD at about 6", and a one eyed Green Severum at about 6" too.. Said he found some lady on Craigslist to sell them all to him for 50 bucks. Talked to him about a month ago and now he's pissed that he only has 1 Oscar left...

I guess no matter how much explaining you do, enlightening, saying and showing experience, and guiding people in certain directions, some people are just no meant for this hobby, and a lot of pretty cool fish suffer.
