INTRODUCING: MR POINTY NOSE

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
OMG! Mr. Pointy Nose is so awsome! Ive always wanted a sturgeon or sterlet.. Good luck with him :D

just watch out for the hot weather this week/thunder storms. they need very hight oxygen levels. during the last heat wave i had to put big bags of ice and extra pumps on ponds holding baby sterlets. and they were in the shade. good luck with him he looks really healthy.
also watch out for the african sinking pellets as sterlets dont digest plant based foods very well.
have a look on ebay for some eartworm/sterlet pellets. pretty cheap too.

they dont need cold water just a tone of oxygen. I kept one in my 310 gallon at 82 degrees i just had a done of water flow at the surface and a lot of air!

bogwood, what are you feeding it ?? any growth in the few weeks you've had him?

I couldn't get any of my acipenser species to eat ANYTHING other than bloodworm. but as soon as they are available this year, i am going to get some more, and i will want to get them onto pellets as a staple if possible.

Hes hes eating 3 different types of sinking pellets, Hailbut, New era american cichlid pellet and new era african cichlid pellet.

I think that the new era ones are his fave at the moment but thats what hes been feeding on mainly over the past few weeks so thats probably why :)

Ive been playing with him a bit this evening hes very happy very active swimmer too :D
