I started my first full planted tank about 5 months ago, although I've been keeping tanks for many years. Wanting to get to the next level, hope people here can offer some good suggestions to help me out:

36g Bowfront
Substrate: Aquariumplants.com own substrate
Lights: 65W Current Satellite
Filtration: Whisper 40
Ferts: Root tabs, Flourish Excel
Fish: 1 Angelfish = Petsmarts finest!
5 Zebra Danios
1 Rubber lip pleco
Plants: Amazon sword (2) plus shoots
Java Fern
Petite Nana
Dwarf Subulata
Four Leaf Clover

10g - only a week old
Substrate: Aquariumplants.com own substrate
Lights: 18Wx2 Current Nova Extreme T5HO
Filter: Whisper 20?
Ferts: Root tabs, Flourish Excel
Fish: 1 Betta
Plants: Amazon sword
Java Fern
Petite Nana

Weekly W/C on both at about 40%

API master test kit on order to test parameters (tried to go without but its a losing proposition)

Below are some pics. I thought they were doing pretty well, but recently the growth seems to have slowed and some algae has taken over. The four leaf clover hasn't done much of anything. I've got an Eheim ecco 2234 and a turbo twist 9v UV sterilizer on order, as well as the API kit hopefully to arrive any day now. Any other suggestions for crispy water with lush plants would be great.

Since I don't have any monster fish just yet, the last pic is my monster dog:headbang2

Nice man, your right it does look like my s/u,The best thing I have used for algae is 1 a SAE, or use double the dose of your excel for 2days and it will be gone in a week, Remind me again how you put the MFK logo in the pics????

Nice betta, I'm thinking about putting my betta in with my planted tank and was wondering if bettas pick on your other fish????

[fish junkie]sweet what kind of moss is starting on your drift wood in the bow front ?

Not sure, it came 'free' with the four leaf clover.

I'm pretty sure the MFK logo is added after the upload (I didn't put it on there)

The Betta is the only fish in the 10 gallon. Will be getting some red cherry shrimp for that tank later in the week, so hopefully he will not eat them. If shrimp come up missing I've got some options for moving things around though.

Put some more plants in the 10 yesterday for hiding places for the shrimp.
