Introduction to FHs

some guys in this forum knows how to sex FHs even at 4" size.
how can you tell whether an FH is Male or Female? i know the papilae thing but squeezing them gently out make me feel bad.

But to answer a couple questions..

Flowerhorns are VERY territorial.. and most can't be kept in a community tank.. unless it's EXTREMELY big... even then, it'd be tough..

THey are bred easily, but only top 15% of fish turn out to be quality fish.. rest are low/mid grade fish..

They're pretty hardy fish.. and can live in many different temps, water levels, etc.. but best would be 86 degrees F, pH 7.0 - 8.0(recommended 7.5 - 7.8 by a lot of master keepers), originals are not as beautiful as the Flowerhorns of today, but I've been told mine is an older based Blue Dragon Zhen Zhu..

But flowerhornrus.com is a good site to learn a lot about 'em. There are a lot of different strains.. ZZ = Zhen Zhu, one of the more commonly kept strains.. but ZZ branches out into more variations..

IMO that's a male FH, I got one looking just like him.
