Invasive Goldfish feeding a Zoo (neat article)

Win win in this case but I still can’t understand why people dump pet fish into waterways to begin with. A while ago l, I saw a guy reel in a foot long pacu out of a local lake thats also inhabited by a large colony of convicts and tons of plecos of all sizes who were making pits in the side of bank

I've luckily never had to do this but if I have a fish I need to get rid of and no one will take it I will painlessly euthanize it long before I consider tossing it into my local pond. It's not just the fish being invasive it's all the rando bacteria they carry too.

Also zoos tend to run on super low funding, any quality free food is good.

I think people dump things because they weren't educated about adult size or aggression or breeding capacity, end up with stuff that's just not good for their tank, and don't realize you can usually call local fish stores, vets, etc. post on FB or whatever.
