I remember some time ago someone creating a re-breather of some type. I've never been diving but i've heard one of the things that scares that fish away is the release of air into the water causing bubbles. This re-breather that I saw did not release any bubbles into the water thus not scaring away fish while diving. The divers found that they could get a lot closer to most fish with the re-breather vs. conventional scuba tanks. It extracted the O2 from the water and added the CO2 into it that we exhale.
