High all I was looking to get into inverts with a planted tank, put in some snails and shrimp and see what happens. Any invert diseases I need to know about? Do I need a QT setup for them?

I bought some cloning cray fish and they all have died but one for no apparent reason so I thought I'd inquire on here.

There are, but dont think as common... Normally i think they are external and can be seen in their shells? Alrhough some one correct me if im wrong...

If you have expensive invert stock then maybe QT to be safe? If theres nothing overly crazy, then you should be able to get away without it i'd guess?

I mean personally, i started keeping Crystal Red Shrimp not too long ago, although not the super expensive SSS grade ones that cost $500+ a pop, but have spent a good $100+ on shrimp so far and haven't QT'd any of them yet and touch wood, not had any problems or losses...

salt, i just had a cray fish with some crazy worms alllllll over him, gave him a very heavy salt bath for like 5 min, when i say heavy i mean it. he was knee deep in visible salt and the water only covered him, swirld it around for a bit, he rolled over like he was dead, and i went to pick him up and he pinched the fire out of me, so i put him in some fresh water and like new, no parasites

I keep cloning crayfish and so long as the adults have hiding places I have not had problems. In another thread I read they were loosing legs then being found dead? That sounds like fighting to me. Mine only "fight" to defend a favorite haunt or when hungry with the latter meaning there could be some lost limbs or deaths if they can't find an easier bit of food.

How long do they live??? My two largest just died, I've seen one or two get harassed but My large ones seem to just pass on, they color down then their legs start to discolor then fall off then they die. Its a long slow decline. My smaller more active ones will be in the middle of reproduction one day and dead the next, or just dead and still colored up fine. I have just the one cloner left. He's about 1 inch long and the tank now has some fish fry for him to eat but he won't touch em.
