Mbuna's will eat really any kind of inverts or just damage them.
But I, personally, have kept Nerite snails with mbuna and other african cichlids with no problems.
But buy more than you need. Some cichlids will become interested in the snails and might pick off a few, but they should get used to them. Plus, nerite snails are algae grazers and will clean you tank!
And if you are lucky, some snails might breed, even though it's kind of rare for them to breed in freshwater parameters.
But I keep some nerites in my sa/ca community/planted tank (tetra's, apistos...) and have successfully had baby nerites, not sure how it happened, but they are there.
