  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lol its to late now... I am happy for the help i do get. I wouldnt have bought the glass if i wasnt close to 100% sure it would work, i just like to ask to make sure no one says different, i think that half inch tempered will be just fine.
The glass shop should be getting it in today or monday. I will post pics as soon as its in.. The tank is 100% ready for glass and silconing. I did have to cut out my bulkheads that i had installed.

The bulkheads were connected straight to a tee. so i could make somthing like a through wall durso pipe but thats when i was planning on running this thing to a couple of wetdry's no i am planing on hooking them straight to a fx5... anyways like i said pics as soon as i get somthing to take one of!

wow, that was a great read, i hope something new soon, the suspense is killin me

It's been 12 hours since someone has posted in this dead thread. I was always a fan of the "night of the living dead" genre.

Better bring this thread back to life.

I used 1/2" tempered. It's 96" X 36" and it doesn't bow at all. Just make sure you have good bracing on the top. I used 3 2x6's space 2' on center.

I will make a lid out of 3/4 ply...
I didnt get a chance to call the glass shop today, as i work a weekend shift, im just getting home and they are closed by now.. It was supposed to arrive at their shop today, so i am hoping for monday delievery! we will see, pics asap i promise.
Thanks for the shot of cofidence guiness, I was sure the 1/2 would have been good enough but the glass company insisted on tempered just incase, they didnt want to be liable for someone getting chopped in half incase of a explosion!

you should be fine with 1/2" glass, my 150 is 29"x70" without any upper bracing going from front to back and it hardly bows at all.

:D Nice socks! GE silicone I Window and door WITHOUT the bio seal and not GE silicone I Kitchen and bath. Should be about $14 for a 4 pack at lowes. you'll probably need 8 tubes for that to put between the glass and wood. Don't wipe off the excess use it to make a nice bead on the inside and outside of the tank like your caulking a normal window. Also take masking/blue painters tape 1" or wider and place it on the glass facing the outside where the visible part of the glass is so after you make the bead it goes on the tape but not past it and before the silicone cures you pull the tape off so you have perfect straight lines to avoid having to use a razor to clean the glass. Something I forgot to do on my tank when I put the glass in. :swear:
